Profilitec FLOORTEC 3'3" x 98'5" Uncoupling Membrane Floortec is an uncoupling-based installation membrane for ceramic or stone tiles. It is positioned between the substrate and the tile. Using the proper mortar-based adhesives, tile and membrane are joined together.

- The tension between the substrate (concrete or wood structures) and tile can be neutralized by the membrane's ability to account for unequal movement in all directions
- Compared to other-shaped columns, the circular column support structure on the membrane's surface offers greater load resistance. The mortar-based adhesive on the mat's surface fills the circular voids to create a sturdy column support structure
- The tile flooring can be laid without having to wait for concrete to cure normally because the open chambers on the bottom of the membrane relieve pressure on moisture rising from the substrate (28 days)
- The membrane material, HDPE (high-density polyethylene), is waterproof
- The top layer of the membrane blocks water infiltration, facilitating the natural water evaporation process
- The mortar bed is therefore protected from water percolation and not subjected to damage due to ice formation caused by low temperatures during the winter month
- *Even though the Floortec membrane is made of waterproof plastic, Foiltec strips and corner joints are still required to completely waterproof the application. The waterproofing of these accessories could be compromised by improper application. Also, a bituminous membrane or comparable product must be used instead of the FLOORTEC membrane as the primary waterproofing system
FLOORTEC Product Installation- STEP 1: Cut the Floortec membrane before laying. Spread the adhesive on the substrate
- STEP 2: Roll out the membrane
- STEP 3: Press to fix properly the membrane
- STEP 4: For Waterproofing, glue Foiltec waterproofing strip over the joints between the sheets of Floortec. Glue the corners
- STEP 5: Be sure to level the adhesive and completely fill the cylindrical cavities of the membrane with a smooth trowel and then with a suitable notched trowel
- STEP 6: Laying the floor. The size of the tiles, exclusively laid with the “full bed” technique, must be at least 5x5 cm. C2 type adhesive is recommended with a cement type subfloor
