Blanke AQUA SHIELD is a thin waterproofing fabric that can be applied with thin-set mortar to most surfaces that are dry, flat, and structurally sound. Tile can be installed immediately on fabric without the cure time required for liquid-applied products. In addition to waterproofing, the Blanke AQUA SHIELD forms a vapor barrier making it ideal for steam rooms and saunas. A wide range of convenient accessories is available such as the Blanke AQUA CORN-I and CORN-A for corners, BLANKE AQUA SA, a self-adhesive tape for a quick, convenient taping of seams, and the BLANKE AQUA SEAL, a waterproof polymer adhesive for sealing seams and preformed corners.

Instructions for Installing Blanke Aqua-Shield

• The substrate must be clean, flat, dry and load-bearing
• Treat drains, pipe surrounds, corners, wall-to-wall connections and wall-to-floor connections first per directions given in BLANKE AQUA SHIELD Installation Instructions
• Cut BLANKE AQUA SHIELD to the size required. Apply the thin-set to the substrate by using a 1/4" x 3/16" V-notched trowel
• Press BLANKE AQUA SHIELD into the thin-set by using the flat side of the trowel, ensuring 100% contact with the substrate
• Run the towel over the fabric in a diagonal direction
• The edges of adjoining BLANKE AQUA SHIELD sections have to overlap by at least 2 inches
• Spread thin-set on the surface of the bottom layer of BLANKE AQUA SHIELD 100 to bond the overlapped sections
• In applications subjected to constant and extremely moist conditions, use Blanke AQUA SEAL waterproof adhesive to seal the overlapped seams
• An alternative method to seaming large sections of BLANKE AQUA SHIELD is to about the edges of the sections and apply the BLANKE AQUA SHIELD DB tape over the seams with thin-set
• To shorten the installation time, the seams can be covered with BLANKE AQUA SHIELD SA tape, a peel-and-stick waterproof adhesive tape
