Laticrete

Laticrete has been making tile and stone installation materials since 1956. Setters trust it for complete systems: thinset mortars, grout, Hydro Ban waterproofing and shower components, uncoupling and floor heat. We stock more than 180 Laticrete products, from single bags of grout to full pallets of thinset for crews.

Thinset mortars

253 Gold is the everyday polymer-fortified thinset for floors and walls. 254 Platinum steps up bond strength for porcelain, glass and demanding installs, and it's the go-to mortar over Hydro Ban. For large format and heavy tile, Tri-Lite is a lightweight mortar that holds a tall ridge without sagging. Not sure which notch to run? See our trowel size guide.

Hydro Ban waterproofing

Hydro Ban liquid membrane rolls or brushes on as a thin, fast-curing waterproofing and crack isolation layer for showers, tub surrounds and wet areas. Prefer a sheet? Hydro Ban Sheet Membrane bonds in thinset for a consistent thickness. For reinforced liquid waterproofing, 9235 membrane fabric is a long-time favorite.

Hydro Ban shower systems

Build a complete Laticrete shower from one system:

• Hydro Ban Board: lightweight, pre-waterproofed backer board for walls
• Hydro Ban pre-sloped shower pans with matching curbs and niches
• Hydro Ban linear drain grates for curbless and large format showers

Grout

Permacolor is a high-performance cement grout with consistent color that holds up in busy homes. SpectraLOCK PRO is Laticrete's epoxy grout: stain-resistant, color-consistent and never needs sealing.

Uncoupling, floor heat and outdoor

Strata Mat uncoupling membrane protects tile over wood subfloors and moving substrates. StrataHeat heating wire and mats add a warm floor under tile. For rooftop decks and patios, the NXT Pedestal system raises and levels exterior pavers.

The real installer debate: epoxy or cement grout?

The epoxy camp runs SpectraLOCK PRO in showers, kitchens and anywhere stains are a worry. It never needs sealing, the color stays even, and callbacks for dirty grout lines mostly disappear.

The cement camp says Permacolor is faster to mix, easier to clean up and more forgiving on big floors, especially for crews that don't grout with epoxy every day.

Where it lands: many setters use SpectraLOCK in showers and on countertops, and Permacolor on large floors. If you're new to epoxy, start with a small bathroom and work in small batches.

Frequently asked questions

253 Gold or 254 Platinum? 253 Gold covers most ceramic and porcelain jobs. Use 254 Platinum for glass tile, demanding porcelain, and over Hydro Ban.

Hydro Ban liquid or sheet? Liquid is fast on walls with lots of corners and pipes. Sheet gives a guaranteed thickness everywhere. Many pros keep both on the truck.

Do I need to seal Laticrete grout? SpectraLOCK PRO epoxy never needs sealing. Check the product data sheet for cement grouts.
