Can you use spectralock pro as an adhesive for small tiles?

Hello,

No, LATICRETE SpectraLOCK PRO Epoxy Grout should not be used as an adhesive for small tiles.

It is formulated as a grout to fill and seal joints after tile has been properly installed, not to bond tile to a substrate.

Using it to set tile would be outside the manufacturer’s guidelines and could lead to bond failure or voided warranty.

A proper polymer-modified thinset mortar or approved epoxy tile adhesive should be used to install the tile first. SpectraLOCK PRO should only be used for grouting once the tile is securely set and cured.

How to wash

Hello,

Great question — the way you clean LATICRETE SpectraLOCK PRO epoxy grout depends on when the cleaning is being done. If the grout was just installed or is still in the installation phase, it must be washed using LATICRETE’s included cleaning additive packets mixed with water. These are required for the initial and final wash to properly remove epoxy residue and grout haze. General stone or tile cleaners should not be used at this stage, as epoxy grout cures chemically and using the wrong cleaner too early can leave a film or affect the final appearance.

Once the grout has fully cured and the installation is complete, routine cleaning is much simpler. At that point, a pH-neutral cleaner such as StoneTech Revitalizer Citrus Cleaner & Protector is appropriate for normal maintenance and everyday cleaning. These products are designed to clean finished surfaces, not to replace the manufacturer’s required installation wash. If the grout is new and you are unsure whether it has fully cured, it is best to follow LATICRETE’s cleaning instructions first before using any maintenance cleaners.
