The Better-Bench BT-17 Shelf is easy to install, replacing other complex methods. This fully independent supporting unit can be mounted to most vertical surfaces quickly and efficiently, saving the tile installer valuable time. What once took days can now be done in about 30 minutes!

When installing a Better Bench over existing tile, we recommend purchasing a 3/8" Porcelain Diamond Drill Bit (to drill an anchor hole through tile) and a 3/8" Masonry Drill Bit (also available from your local hardware store) for drilling through the thin-set and backer-board.

Does the underside of bench need or can be tiled?

Thank you for your question regarding the Innovis Better-Bench Triangular Shelf (12" x 12" x 17").
Per the manufacturer’s installation guidelines, the underside of the shelf should be tiled. While tiling the underside is not required for structural support, Innovis recommends it in order to cover the exposed mortar once the shelf is filled. This helps provide a finished appearance and reduces the potential for moisture retention or mildew.
The shelf is specifically designed with perforations to allow proper bonding of tile to the underside.
