Superior Ceramic Tile Nippers

Superior tile nippers are manufactured from the best carbide tungsten steel in the U.S.A.

Superior tile nippers are not recommended for use on porcelain tile

Features

  • Made for lasting durability, they are the finest quality obtainable
  • Length 8 inch (20.32 cm)
  • Tile nippers are used to make circular cuts in ceramic tile
  • Use for straight or angled cuts, although you will find it much easier to use a tile cutter or wet saw to make these types of cuts
  • Take small "nips" or "bites" out of it using the tile nippers. Take your time and keep the "bites" small. Otherwise, you risk breaking the tile and having to start all over again
  • Once the tile is completely cut, a piece of 60-grit sandpaper or a special rubbing stone used by ceramic tile contractors will smooth the finished edge. Especially when the cut will be exposed (e.g., around shower drains) as the edge of the cut tile will be very sharp
  • Handle stop to protect tips
  • Center spring returns jaws to the open position

Superior ceramic tile nippers

I have used superior tile nippers for decades and will use no other. I haven’t tried the new pair yet so we will see

Superior nips aren’t worth the money anymore

They used to be the best nippers but I have had three new pairs now and they all failed! The carbide tip came off the first time I used each pair. Superior needs to fix this problem as for right now I will stick with the cheaper ones they seem to last the longest.

tile nippers

I've used superior tile nippers for38 years they were always the best , not any more. 3 pairs that i bought in 6 months the first 2 pairs chipped in the first couple days, the last pair the carbide just fell off, Im done they must come from china or some crappy country. i have to find a new brand. don't waste your money.

green nippers

Last pair I owned for 18 year helper threw them out by accident just received my new pair today just to take one nip off a corner of tile and the carbide tip broke off what a disappointment . Have another pair on the way if they fail I guess it will be the last time I buy their nippers ... guess quality ain't their strong suit anymore . They use to be the best nippers on the market

what happened to these?

Superior used to have the best nippers. I have now been through 2 consecutive pairs that break on the FIRST CUT. Contractors Direct is kind in replacing these, but they ain't what they used to be

Garbage

These nippers are only worth it if you cutting CERAMIC. NOT GOOD for porcelain.

The best...except

Been doing tile for 50 years (Dad started me as a kid). These green nippers (biters) have been around for that long. They have the best feel, sharpness, ease of use for forming that shape you need. Many years ago, they cheapened the carbide tip and bond to the nipper frame. Disappointing. I've seen them with the tip separated new in the box! But most often they are good and wear well. Just make sure you buy from a supplier who will warranty them if they don't last. And never ever use them for hard porcelain. They are still my favorite and the only ones I have in my tool box. (yes I've tried the others)

Garbage

Two pairs of nippers broke in less than a month while nipping bisque body tile. The braze holding the carbide to the jaw failed each time. Don't waste your money.

not worth the money

I purchased the blue handled superior tile nippers earlier this month and today was only the third time I used them, well I was trying to nip porcelain tile and one of the carbide tungsten tips snapped and sheared clean off, for $22 I thought these would be a great pair off tile nippers!! Turns out I was wrong, I had better luck with a $10 pair!!

They really are Superior

My husband has been a professional tile installer for nearly 45 years. These are the only nippers he'll use, and unfortunately, our local tile distributors don't carry them anymore. Thanks, Contractors Direct for being a great resource.

Nice but not useful to me

I don't think the description of the product mentioned that the jaws had a gap, which turned out to be larger than the fiber-cement siding that I intended to cut. Nice pliers, but didn't suit my purpose.

Use the tools the pros use

I am a 19 yr professional. There are a lot of new tools out there. Nippers aren't used as much anymore. Let me tell you one thing about Superior "green handle" nippers: When you need to use a pair of nippers, you need the correct ones. I have tried 6-8 different brands (QEP) but I always come home to the comfort and quality of my Superior brand nippers.
