what is the point of this being made of carbon fiber? Is it just a gimmick or is there some advantage?

The design on the blade is a "Carbon Fiber" design. This is a diamond blade without any carbon fiber in the core or rim.
The real advantage to this blade is the turbo mesh diamond matrix. The mesh helps with keeping cuts more accurate and the blade have a longer life. The mesh on keeps the blade cooler as it is cutting which aids in the blade lasting longer.

Fake carbon fiber beware not real

I haven’t tested the blade yet but I’m already taking two stars off because it’s falsely labeled as carbon fiber. The carbon fiber is merely a sticker on the center of the blade. The blade is clearly made out of metal throughout. This is nothing more than a gimmick to trick you into buying it because people think carbon fiber is cool

These blades will dry cut ceramic & porcelain tiles with no chipping. Very durable and wears well. This blade is a good buy.
