Lawn Mowers: Push, Self-Propelled, and Zero-Turn
Lawn size decides most of this before anything else does. A quarter acre or smaller doesn't need much more than a push mower. Add slope or add square footage, and a self-propelled model starts earning its keep. The wheels do the pulling instead of the operator's legs. Past about half an acre, walking the lawn stops making sense entirely. That's where a zero-turn rider takes over, cutting mowing time down to a fraction of what a walk-behind would need.
Fuel source is the other real decision. Gas mowers run longer and hit harder on thick or overgrown grass. That matters most on bigger properties or infrequent cuts. Battery mowers trade some of that runtime for a quieter, lower-maintenance machine. There's no oil to change, no pull cord, no exhaust.
Stand-on and seated zero-turns split off in a smaller but real way. Standing keeps the operator's weight centered and low. That helps traction on hills. It also means a smaller footprint that stores easier in a trailer or garage. Seated zero-turns win on comfort over a long mowing session. That matters most on flatter, larger properties where the ride counts as much as the cut.
Greenworks handles the battery side of this page almost entirely. Its lineup spans push mowers, self-propelled mowers, and ride-on models. Husqvarna covers gas mowers, zero-turns, and stand-on units. It also supplies the overwhelming majority of replacement parts and blades stocked here. ECHO, MoJack, Dewalt, and our own Contractors Direct house line round out accessories, lifts, and mulching blades.
Whatever the size of the lawn, we can point you to the mower that won't leave you fighting it every weekend.
