Getting a floor from rough concrete to a finished polish takes a few different tools working in sequence, and that's what this category covers. You start with carbide, chips and discs mostly, to knock down coatings, glue, or high spots before anything finer touches the slab. Once the surface is flat, diamond tooling takes over, working through a run of grits to remove the scratch pattern the carbide left behind. Resin pads finish the job and bring the floor to whatever level of shine the project calls for.

The decision that matters most on a job like this isn't brand, it's how long to stay on carbide before switching to diamond. Switching too early means chasing scratches the diamond tooling can't fully remove, and staying on carbide too long wastes time on a floor that was already flat. Wet versus dry grinding is the other point that divides crews. Dry grinding with a shroud and vacuum is faster to set up, wet grinding controls dust better but adds slurry to manage, and the right choice usually comes down to whether the work is indoors and how strict the site is about airborne dust.
