Tile Spacers – Cross, T & Leave-In Spacers for Even Grout Lines

Grout lines look effortless when they're done right, but that evenness doesn't happen by eye, it happens because a spacer held every tile in place while the thinset set up underneath. This category covers the small tools that make that consistency possible, from basic cross spacers to leave-in designs built to stay under the tile permanently.

Barwalt's precision spacers have been a standard for a long time, rubber flex spacers made in the USA that installers trust for accurate, repeatable spacing. Tavy takes a different approach with a two-sided design, one side for corners, one for straight runs, plus a circular shape that keeps it from bottoming out into the thinset so it's easier to pull back out. CD Products goes the other direction entirely with their leave-in spacers, longer and more rigid, designed to stay in place and get grouted right over instead of removed. Perfect Level Master and Raimondi round things out, Perfect Level Master with sizing down to 1/32", Raimondi with heavier cross spacers built specifically for large format and outdoor tile on thicker beds.

Leave-in versus removable is really the decision that matters most in this category. A removable spacer, like Barwalt's or Tavy's, needs to come out before grouting, more steps, but nothing sits inside your grout line long term. A leave-in spacer, like CD Products', skips that step entirely, the hollow design lets grout fill in around it and lock it in place, which saves time on a big job but means the spacer becomes a permanent part of the installation. For most standard tile work, removable is still the more common choice. For high-volume commercial jobs where time on the tools matters more than anything, leave-in spacers save real labor.

Size matters as much as style. A 1/32" spacer gives you a tight, modern grout line, while 1/8" or larger gives more forgiveness for tile with natural size variation, especially handmade or textured material.
