Diamond Polishing Pads & Equipment for Stone, Porcelain & Glass

Cutting a tile is only half the job, the edge you're left with still needs to be honed down before it looks finished. That's what this category covers, diamond pads and the equipment behind them, for anyone smoothing edges or bringing a polished finish to porcelain, marble, granite, or engineered stone.

Rubi's dry polishing pad kits are a common starting point, flexible enough to work complex edges and priced right for crews polishing regularly. Alpha Tools and DTA both make solid hand pads for quick on-site touch-ups, scratches and rough edges you don't want to haul back to a shop for. CD Products and POWERTEC round out the hand pad lineup, and for bigger jobs or shop work, Diamant Boart by Husqvarna, Pearl Abrasive, and Norton Clipper make the heavier pads and profiling equipment built for daily use.

Wet or dry is the question that comes up most in this category, and it depends more on where you're working than what you're polishing. Wet pads run cooler and last longer since the water carries the heat and dust away, which makes them the better call for shop work or anything with dust control needs. Dry pads skip the water line entirely, which is why they show up more on job sites, faster setup, no mess to manage, but they wear down quicker and need a lighter touch to avoid burning the pad or the material. A lot of installers keep both on hand and pick based on the site, not a fixed preference.

Grit matters as much as wet or dry. Most polishing jobs start coarse, somewhere around 50 to 100 grit, to knock down the rough edge from cutting, then step up through the grits toward 3000 for a mirror finish. Skipping steps usually shows up as swirl marks that no amount of buffing at the end will fix.
