Decorative Concrete Coating Tools for Epoxy and Quartz Systems
Applying a decorative coating is as much about technique as it is material, and this page covers both sides of it. Spiked shoes let an applicator walk across wet epoxy without leaving footprints behind, and spike rollers do the same job on the material itself, popping air bubbles before the coating cures. Roller covers, squeegees, and epoxy rakes handle spreading the base coat evenly, and pigments, blended chips, and blended quartz are what actually give the floor its color and texture once the broadcast goes down.
Midwest Rake supplies most of the application tools on this page, spiked shoes, spike rollers, roller covers, and squeegees included, while Spartacote covers the pigments, chips, and quartz blends that build the finish.
The decision that matters most here is broadcast rate and timing rather than brand. A light broadcast of chips or quartz gives a speckled look and uses less material, while a full broadcast to rejection covers the floor completely for a heavier, more uniform finish, and that choice has to be made before the base coat sets up, not after. Spike rollers matter more than people expect too, skipping that step is the most common reason a finished coating ends up with visible bubbles once it cures.
