Tile Saw Blades – Diamond Blades for Porcelain, Ceramic & Stone
The blade does more work than most people give it credit for. Same saw, same operator, swap the blade and you'll get a completely different cut, cleaner or rougher, faster or slower, and on porcelain especially, the wrong blade will chip the glaze before you even finish the pass.
Rubi and Husqvarna are the two names that come up most, both making a full range from general purpose tile blades up to dedicated porcelain and glass blades. Montolit's Progres CG line is built specifically around porcelain, using a diamond matrix designed to stay cool through the cut so it doesn't dull as fast on that harder material. MK Diamond and Gemini Saw Company round out the workhorse category, blades most shops keep in stock because they handle a wide range of tile without needing something specialized. RTC and Diteq fill in the value end for anyone who doesn't need top-tier performance for every cut.
Continuous rim versus segmented is the real decision here, more than brand. A continuous rim blade has a smooth, unbroken edge, which gives you the cleanest finish with the least chipping, exactly what you want on visible cuts in porcelain or glass. A segmented or turbo blade has gaps cut into the rim that help it cut faster and stay cooler, but it leaves a rougher edge that's more likely to chip delicate material. Most tile work leans toward continuous rim for that reason, segmented blades show up more on stone and masonry where speed matters more than a polished edge.
Material matters too. Glass mosaic needs its own blade, like Rubi's Glass Premium, since standard tile blades run too aggressive and will blow out the edge on something that thin.
