Cut-Off Saws & Power Cutters for Concrete, Masonry & Metal

A cut-off saw earns its spot on the truck because it does one thing better than almost anything else on site, a fast, straight cut without hauling out a walk-behind saw for a job that doesn't need one. This page covers handheld gas, electric, and battery cut-off saws, along with ring saws and concrete chainsaws for cuts that go past what a standard blade can reach.

Gas saws are still the go-to for most outdoor work, they don't lose power as the cut gets deeper and don't depend on a cord or battery charge to finish the job. Electric saws hold steady power for repetitive cutting in one spot, useful when a cord isn't a limitation and consistent output matters more than mobility. Battery saws have closed a lot of ground in the last few years, and they're the right call for indoor work, shorter cuts, or any job where exhaust and noise are a real concern.

Husqvarna carries most of this page across gas, electric, and specialty cutting, with Dewalt, Makita, and Greenworks covering the battery side, and Norton Clipper, Core Cut, CS Unitec, and ICS filling out electric and specialty saw options.

Where it gets more specialized is depth and shape. A standard cut-off saw is limited by blade size, once a cut needs to go deeper than that, a ring saw takes over, running the blade off a ring drive instead of a shaft so it can cut well past a normal blade's radius. Concrete chainsaws go a step further, built for plunge cuts and tight corners a straight blade can't start on its own.
