Core Drill Equipment for Concrete and Masonry

A handheld drill works for smaller diameter holes and one off penetrations. Once the diameter gets larger or the hole has to run perfectly straight through the full depth, a rig mounted to a stand takes over, holding the bit steady in a way handheld drilling can't match past a certain size. This page covers both, along with the motors, adapters, and vacuum parts that keep the whole system running.

Husqvarna and Eibenstock make up most of the selection here, with Core Bore, CS Unitec, and Kor-It covering rig and stand hardware, and Dewalt and Norton Clipper rounding out the handheld side.

Wet versus dry drilling is the other decision that divides crews. Wet drilling keeps the bit cooler and extends its life but means managing water and slurry on site. Dry drilling with a vacuum attachment is cleaner for indoor work where water isn't an option, though it puts more wear on the bit over time.
