The square Free Floating Shelf Bracket is designed to slip into a hollow shelf. To install your shelf, you would install a 1x2 or 1x3 to the face of the wall directly on the drywall in the place where you want the shelf. After installing the strip on the wall, simply install the brackets on the strip where you need them for the shelf size.
