Concrete Vibrators for Consolidating Freshly Poured Concrete

Freshly poured concrete traps air as it settles into a form, and that trapped air has to come out before the slab cures or it leaves behind honeycombing and weak spots, particularly around rebar and formwork edges. An internal vibrator solves that by working directly into the pour and shaking the air loose. Most units on this page break down into three replaceable parts: a motor, a flex shaft, and a head, sold separately so a worn component doesn't mean replacing the whole tool, or bundled together as a complete kit.

Head diameter is the detail that decides how well a vibrator fits the job. A larger head moves through open pours quickly and consolidates more concrete per pass, but it can't get into tight rebar spacing or narrow formwork. A smaller head handles those tight spots without disturbing the reinforcement, though it takes longer to cover the same volume.

Power source is the other real decision. Corded electric motors run steady for as long as the job needs but keep the crew tied to an outlet. Gas motors and backpack units go wherever a cord can't. Battery vibrators, including Dewalt's POWERSHIFT line, trade some runtime for cutting out both the cord and the exhaust.
